What would the holidays be like without cookies? Growing up I loved making holiday cookies, not only were the cookies delicious, it was special time with my mom…it didn’t hurt that I was able to lick the batter off the spoon too – yum.
As a health and wellness professional I will never say cookies are “healthy” for you based on the ingredients, put spending time with our family and friends making cookies has tremendous health benefits. Even research reveals the health benefits of laugher and spending time with friends and family. So let’s bake some cookies!
I love the recipe I have posted below from the Minimalist Baker. Last week I baked them with my 5 year old grandson. The cookies were absolutely delicious and the dough was yummy too! Since the recipe is vegan it is kid friendly – meaning if your little one wants to eat some of the batter they can; so no more tears when you have to say “don’t eat the batter it could make you sick”. When we are happy, and especially when we laugh, we release endorphins which are good for our health. So go ahead, surround yourself with friends and family, bake these delicious cookies, and if you want you can even lick the spoon!
From my family to yours- WISHING YOU A HAPPY AND HEALTHY HOLIDAY!
